Wednesday is Another "Tax Day”
in the General Assembly
Both the Senate and the House of Delegates will be holding hearings on Wednesday that will impact your family's budget. As tax revenue declines, Martin O'Malley and the Democrats will continue looking to you for more money instead of cutting spending and waste. Of course, now we know that these new taxes will pay for major pay raises for O'Malley's top aides. Act now and tell your legislators that "enough is enough."
Read below on how you can make a difference in supporting Republican efforts to cut taxes and in opposing Democrat efforts to increase taxes.

CALL TO ACTION
(1) Testify at one of the hearings on Wednesday. It is important that you show up at least one hour early to get on the witness list. Be sure to sign up on the witness list to speak. Be respectful, but tell the legislators how the tax-and-spend policies are impacting you, your family, and if you are a small businessperson, your business.
(2) Call and e-mail your elected officials EVERY DAY. You should contact Governor O’Malley, Senate President Miller, Speaker Busch, and your legislators every day from now until Session ends. If you have time, please also contact the members of the Senate Budget and Taxation Committee and the House Ways and Means Committee. A full list with their phone numbers and e-mail addresses is at the end of this e-mail. Tell them:
* They have a spending problem, not a revenue problem
* If your family needs to work within a budget so should the state
* You want tax relief NOW
* Repeal the computer services tax
* Do not expand the sales tax
* Do not increase the tax on health insurance premiums
(3) Call Talk Radio and get the message out to the public. The Maryland Republican Party now has an easy way to find the call-in numbers for all of the talk radio stations in your area. Click here or go to our home page and click on “Call Talk Radio.” Type in your zip code, and find out how to call all of your talk shows.
(4) Write Letters to the Editor. Keep your letters brief, concise, and to the point. Newspaper editors often edit for length so try to keep your letter to less than 250 words. Be sure to state your main point in the subject line and in the first sentence of the letter. Keep your letters focused on one subject. Let us know if your article gets printed.
